Spoken English Session - 1

Today I started with Spoken English sessions in a Government school near Ramaiah. It was a awesome start, children are shy initially but slowly started interacting. It was 3 of us, myself, Satya and Sri.

We started with the introduction and asked them to introduce themselves in English and wow they were all on track. I was noting down where they can be corrected while Satya was busy taking pictures and Sri was encouraging them.

Later, we asked them to talk to each other over a phone call and some boys were excited, one even thought a theme and did a conversation about ordering Pizza. They have everything, it just needs a little guidance and encouragement.

Lastly we told them their mistakes and told them correct sentence formations. Sri wanted to give some homework and we came up with 10 points which they need to write on and share with us next week.

Notebook Distribution Day - 1

Hmm, 19 June, What a start of this day. This was notebook distribution drive from IISC and I volunteered for distribution. We started at 8, first got the stuff out from store room then loaded into the tempo, had some tea and marched towards Jalahalli.

The plan was to cover 7 schools and 1 by 1 we covered all. Every school we asked the number of students including absentees, arranged the stuff according to the grades and asked children to line up grade by grade for distribution. Well co-ordinated.

And you wont believe how much these children care, when it was time for lunch they asked us if we had lunch and they offered us as well. Even teachers were not allowing us to leave without having some refreshments.

It was tiring but the energy was intact till end and the reason I think was children, their smiles and happiness.

As per the co-ordinator ours was the best group as we were all excited till end. It took 8 hours to finish and come back home.

Summer Camp for Needy Children !

Summer holidays and parents are excited to have their children enrolled for Summer Camp  but not all children have this opportunity. So YFC has decided to bridge this at least for some children and many of us volunteered for the classes.

I took paper craft session, first children made paper rose. They did cut circles, colored, cut into petals shape then made roses.

Later we learned quilling and made some quilled flowers.

Lastly children made cards, they all were so excited to get the card stock, flowers, die cuts and used their imagination to create beautiful cards.

Recycle - Paper Bag Event

Recycle, this is what VFC decided to do by making paper bags. I was one of the volunteer. Great idea and can be executed very easily with some very easily available things. News paper of course, some glue and ribbons.

We made many bags of different sizes and handed over to needy and some vendors.
